The most common questions, with the buttons named as you see them in the app. If the answer is not here, write to us.

The app is translated into several languages; the button names below are the English ones.
Getting started
- Install Claspet and open it. The first screen asks you to accept the Terms of Use and to read the privacy policy: tap «I agree».
- Choose «New», write the name others will see (a nickname is fine) and tap «Create». No phone number or email is needed. The username is chosen by the app: you can find it in Settings.
- Right after that the app offers you recovery: turn it on and keep the re-entry sheet it gives you. It is the only way to get your account back if you lose your phone.
- To write to someone, tap «Invite someone»: you can send them a link, show them your code to scan if they are next to you, or, on the phone, read out nine digits. Claspet does not read your address book and has no user directory: this is the only way people find each other.
Linking a second device
You can use the same account on iPhone and on Mac.
- On the new device, open Claspet, accept the terms and choose «Add»: a code appears, to scan or to copy.
- On the device you already use, go to Settings → Devices, type a name for the new device, tap «Scan the code» (or paste the code) and then «Add a device».
- Check that the digits shown on the two screens are the same, and confirm.
The Android app currently cannot be linked as a second device and cannot add one: on Android the account lives on one phone only.
If you lose your phone
- With the re-entry sheet. On the new phone, open Claspet and choose «Re-enter» (on Android: «Re-enter with the re-entry sheet…»), then type the code and the phrase from the sheet. You get back your account and your username, and your contacts can recognise you; not your messages, because they were never on the server.
- With a backup. If you made a password-protected backup (Settings, «Backup with a password»), choose «Backup» (on Android: «I have a backup…»): your conversations come back too, up to the day of the backup.
- If you had another linked device, for example the Mac, go to Settings → Devices there and remove the lost one.
- Without the sheet and without a backup the account cannot be recovered: not even by us, because we do not have your keys. You can open a new one and tell your contacts.
A tip: set a passcode for the app (Settings, «Claspet passcode»), so that whoever finds your phone unlocked cannot open Claspet.
Reporting or blocking someone
- On iPhone: open the conversation, tap «…» at the top right, then «Report…» or «Block…». In the report, write what happened and choose whether to attach the last messages they sent you; reporting also blocks the person.
- On Android: open the conversation, tap the ⋮ menu, then «Report» or «Block».
- On Mac these two buttons are not there yet: use your phone, or write to us.
The person you block gets no notice, and what they send you no longer arrives. We review reports within 24 hours: if someone broke the Terms of Use, their account can be suspended or closed. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number (112 in the EU) right away.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings, at the bottom, Account section, tap «Delete account…» and type the word it asks for. The account and the data on the server and on the phone are deleted immediately; what remains and why is written in the privacy policy. It cannot be undone.
Contact us
Write to claspet@interfibra.it, in English or Italian. If the problem is in the app, the easiest way is Settings → «Report a problem»: it prepares an email with the phone model and the app version, and, if you choose so, the technical log (the app first shows you what it contains). Phone: +39 335 736 7638.
We will never ask for your recovery phrase, the re-entry sheet code or your backup password: whoever asks for them is not us. Security flaws have a page of their own: Security (in Italian).
